Exam 4 Essay 2 Prompt 3

In the 1930's Germany did not really have a set government and that is how Hitler came to power over Germany. He started the Nazis and they started to defeat the people in the government of Germany. They started to gain more and more power after time and then they made a big move and took over the government and when people tried to stop them they would kill them so no one did anything.

When they got the power they became a racist group and they were against all the Jewish people so they started these camps where they would send any Jewish person to and they would be tortured and beaten if they fought. After a while the camps because used for everyone the Nazis didn't like and it became a big thing in the world. Thousands of people were being killed all the time.

The German people did not try to take over the power that Hitler had because they knew he would kill anyone against him and that is what they were doing against the Jewish people. The holocaust became a big murdering streak and Hitler kill thousands and thousands of people. If they would of tried to take over Hitler then they would be put into a camp and most likely killed.

Exam 5 Essay.

Mao became leader of China after a lot of work. He was first recognized as a soldier of China and he was a very good one. He became a part of the communist party and he became one of the leaders along with another person. He formed the red army and defeted the other leaders army and became the leader of the communist party and said he was now the leader of China. When he was leader he did not care much about the people and he gave out a red book that was like a rule book for China. Stalin was similar to Mao because he didn't care much about his people he was more about himself. He said that he was leader forever until his death just like Mao had said in China.

Hitler came to power kind of like Mao. He had scared people saying he had all the power and no one tried to stop him because he did have most of it. Mao came to power by defeating another army but Hitler did it by scareing people and after a while he just said he had all power over the people and they can't do anything so they didn't and when he had power he didn't care about people he just wanted to take over the world.

The most common thing that happens when your building dictatorship is that people forget about everyone and the people of the country. They just want to take over the world and have all the power they want. They use the poor people as there army's and let the wealthy people live. They all have ended up getting the power over there countries and once they do that they say they have it for life and no one can stop them because they would most likely kill them if they try to.

Exam 4. Part 1 Prompt 2

Propaganda is a picture with messages that tries to change the opinion of large groups of people. Propaganda is different from art because it is more of like a hate speech but it is in a picture form. It tells people what they should want and what they shouldn't with out actually saying it. Some people in the wars thought it was like art because propaganda is a picture of people and things but i don't think it should be considered art because it isn't the same thing. Art is something good and peaceful and propaganda is based on bad things that people don't want. They are different degrees of propaganda like some are just pictures of things like Picasso's Guernica, which some people call it art and some call it propaganda but others are pictures of people being killed and those people are based on real life situations. This is a picture of Picasso's art or propaganda called Guernica. I think this is a very weird type of picture or form of propaganda I don't really understand what it is trying to say and it is not very detailed. It looks like the person on the left is throwing there arms up and screaming toward the sky as if she is in trouble or is mad at something that is happening. There are a few people at the bottom of this picture that look like they might have been killed and if this would be considered propaganda those people could be they people that they don't want around and this is showing they should defeat these people. In this picture there is also an animal like thing in the back round that does not look very happy and looks to be angry at something. There are also some people that are also yelling toward the sky it looks like and most of the other people in this picture look very sad and upset.

The bombing of Guernica was an attack by the Germans that destroyed the painting. It was an attack by the planes Germany had on April 26, 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. This attack by the German's was called Operation Rugen. There were several civilian deaths during this bombing and it had a lot of destruction. During the bombing hundreds of bombs were dropped on the city. This bombing had destroyed three quarters of the city and there was not much left of it. There was about 1600 dead and about 900 wounded out of the around 5,000 people in the city. This was a big blow to there economy and and it had a major effect on the war.

Stalingrad

1. What does Joseph Stalin's advice to the people of Stalingrad say about him as a leader?
He doesn't really care how many people die and he does not want anyone to run away from the battle he wants them to fight.

2. Explain why Hitler would react in the way shown after signing a Non-Aggression Pact with Stalin?
Because he knew he could win the battle a lot easier now and he wouldn't lose as many men and he'll be safe. He can focus on one group at a time.

3. Explain the significance of propaganda in this battle, using examples from the posters.
They are saying to kill the bad people in the posters and help win the battle for the good people. they say the Germans are monsters and they should not live.

4. What do the extremes of the war reveal about what it takes to win a total war?
It shows that it will take a lot to win this war and a very good strategy. You would need to watch out for snipers and stay as healthy as you can so you won't die.

5. What does the story of Vasily Zaitsev relate to the war in Iraq?
There is a lot of casulties. There are snipers like him in Iraq and that is why a lot of people are being killed. Also there are people being trained to be a good sniper so they can help in the war in Iraq. We are fighting for what we believe for and our country and we will not give up.

6. In times of crisis, sometimes heroic figures emerge. Which figure emerged in a similar way to Vasily after the terrorist attacks of 9/11?
People that were in the military were the most heroic people and the people who joined the army because they stepped up and went to war and took care of business. Also the fire men would be hero's because they went in to save people and a lot of people had died trying to save people they do not know.

Hunger

I have read the book Hunger by Sharman Apt Russell. I would have to say the them of this book is being hungry. This book talks mostly about what happens to your body when you are eating and what your body does when you stop eating. In this book they talk about the history of fasting which is when a person goes so many days with out eating any food all they do is sip water. Most people do it because of their religion or to jump start a diet until now. There are people who will start to fast just to see what it does to the body and how long they can go without food. My favorite part in this book was when it talked about the guy who was hung inside a glass box over the town while he was fasting so everyone could see him and how he was doing. His fast lasted for weeks but near the end of it he was very thin and exhausted. In this book it talks about people who have fasted just to try and set a record and that record was in the Guinness book of world records until they stopped doing it around 2001.
When some people are fasting they usually feel like they don't have energy or feel very tired but sometimes people can fast and they will feel tired but everything else feels fine and they feel like they are a lot stronger. I don't think I would ever do a fasting because i wouldn't want to go very long without food.
People have been fasting for several years now and there hasn't been that many problems with people doing it but it can make you very unhealthy if you do it wrong.
This book was an alright book to read but I would not suggest reading it while you were hungry because it makes you want to eat. It can be very interesting to anyone who wants to learn about the body and fastings.

Essay 2

The Columbian Exchange transformed the world in a more radical(extreme) way than any other development in world history. One significant effect of this process(actions or operation) was the establishment of the Triangle Trade. While many factors were a part of the Triangle Trade, the rapid growth in both supply and demand for new commodities was the largest motivating element. This time period may be best associated(connect with or in relation to) with economic developments, but it is impossible to analyze(to examine critically) this period without considering the intense social impact that the Triangle Trade had on those involved. In truth, a full understanding can only be gained by appreciating(to be greatful or thankful) how economic and social factors(something that contributes to an accomplishment) impact each other in history.

The colubmian exchange was an exchange of foods, animals, slaves, and more. It changed the world in an extreme way. Our effect of this action established the Triangle Trade. The Triangle Trade was a trade with ships that went to different countries and traded goods for other goods and some countries would trade slaves. There was growth for new commodities during this time period because countries ran out of things to trade because they have already traded it to another country. This time period was also connected with the economy development because contries were having to make new products to sell.

Child Slavery

I am doing my child slavery blog on Chocolate Slavery in Cote d'Ivoire. In Cote d'Ivoire Kids 12 to 16 years old are being sold in to child slavery and having to work on cocoa farms picking cocoa beans for several hours a day. At Cocoa farms they have kids working all day and all night with out lights. Most of the kids come from the neighboring country Mali where there are several agents that walk around looking for kids that are begging for food then they tell them they can get them food if they come with them to Cote d'Ivoire and when they get there they are sold to a cocoa farm for very little money. Kids at chocolate farm are not treated well and if they refuse to work they are beaten until they will.

This is a picture of a young child slave who is collecting cocoa beans in a basket that other child salves have collected for him.
In this picture you can see that it is probably a very hot day out and this kid is walking around with no shoes on so there are probably kids in the cocoa fields that are walking around with out shoes to. Also you can see that the kid in this picture is not very old in age and he has probably been doing this for a while to work off debt from his parents or he was sold by a child laborer to do this job that no one else wants to do.

This is a picture of the cocoa beans in Cote d'Ivoire that the child slaves have to pick and sort in to baskets. As you can see in this picture the cocoa beans are very small and it probably takes a long time to find as many as there are that are in this pile. In Cote d'Ivoire there are about 600 thousand cocoa farms and there are mostly kids that work on all of them but the are some adult slaves that have to pay off money they have borrowed and they don't have kids to sell to the cocoa farms and they have to do the work themselves and I think that is what should happen they shouldn't make there kids have to pay off the money that they have borrowed they should do it themselves.

There is an estimate of 15,000 kids working on the cocoa farms in Cote d'Ivoire. Most of the time all they are allowed to eat for there mean is corn paste once a day but sometime they starve the slaves and won't let them eat at all until they get things done that they haven't. The kids are constantly being beaten and whipped if they are not working hard enough. Cote d'Ivoire ships out 43% of the worlds cocoa beans used to make chocolate so that means the slaves are working a lot of hours with out pay. The united stats pays about 13 million dollars a year just on cocoa beans.

French Revolution Essay.

This Picture shows that there was a lot of fighting during the French Revolution and a lot of terror.

There are certain people during the French Revolution that wanted to take over the country and rule everybody.

This picture shows that they didn't care about people dying and they would just put them in a pile when they were found dead.







This is a picture of the Guillotine which was used to kill several people during the French Revolution.

This picture looks like they have just got done executing someone and now they are showing the head to the people watching this event.

During this time when someone was being executed it was a big thing that happened so there were usually a lot of people watching it.

From what I see in this picture they people who were executed by the Guillotine were executed in the middle of the town so everybody could see it.




This picture shows that people were rioting and were destroying all of the bakerys they could find.

This riot was know as the bread riot. Woman were destroying the towns bakerys because they were tired of being treated bad and were sick of all the bread

This picture shows that there were a lot of children that had to see all of the terror and destroying of things during the French Revolution.

Kids were scarred during the Revolution because they didn't understand what was going on and why everything was happening.


What I get from these pictures about the French Revolution is that it was a very bad time for France and they had to go threw a lot of terror and disrespect beacause people wanted to be so powerful and make choices for people. They were a lot of adults and children who died and not many people cared that so many people were being killed they just wanted to be king. All of the poorer people were being treated the worst and all of the rich people were not being killed as much unless they were not loyal to there king.

This picture shows kids making textiles with a machine in the early parts of the industrial revolution. This is not a very safe machine for kids to be using because there are alot of belts and things hanging. There are not parents supervising them so that means tha they did not have "O.S.H.A" back then. They are working very close to the machines and are touching parts and things and there are no chairs for them to use so they have to stand.

Technology?

I think that using technology can be better than doing things with paper and things like that but it could be kind of confusing at sometimes.
