In the 1930's Germany did not really have a set government and that is how Hitler came to power over Germany. He started the Nazis and they started to defeat the people in the government of Germany. They started to gain more and more power after time and then they made a big move and took over the government and when people tried to stop them they would kill them so no one did anything.
When they got the power they became a racist group and they were against all the Jewish people so they started these camps where they would send any Jewish person to and they would be tortured and beaten if they fought. After a while the camps because used for everyone the Nazis didn't like and it became a big thing in the world. Thousands of people were being killed all the time.
The German people did not try to take over the power that Hitler had because they knew he would kill anyone against him and that is what they were doing against the Jewish people. The holocaust became a big murdering streak and Hitler kill thousands and thousands of people. If they would of tried to take over Hitler then they would be put into a camp and most likely killed.

Local History Project
Plymouth Maine
Plymouth Maine is located in the southwest part of Penobscot county. There are around 1300 people in this little town of only 31 square miles. There many towns around Plymouth that many people travel to every day. Some of those towns would be Newport which is one of the busiest around and there are others like Etna, Dixmont, and Detroit.
This is one of the towns where everyone is friendly with other people. Everyone knows there neighbors in this town. It is very different then in a city because of these things. When me and my dad had moved here from Brewer Maine we did not know anyone around here but it did not take long for us to meet people. We know all the people that live on our road and it is a very good town to live in if you like it quite and friendly.
This town has changed a lot since it was first founded. It was originally more of a farming town and now it is more of a community of people. It is a town where people mostly like to relax but it is a great town to do bike riding in or you could go to the Plymouth Pond and go boating or fishing.
In this town most of the people that live here are middle aged people around there 30’s and 40’s and a lot of these people have kids.
This is a great town if you like to go snowmobiling or four wheeling also. There are trails all around and also there are trails to get into Newport also. From Newport you can go several different places and that’s a big reason people go four wheeling and snowmobiling in Plymouth.
The towns that surround Plymouth are a very big help to the people in this town. Newport is a much bigger town the boarders Plymouth and that is where the people of Plymouth can go to get groceries or go out to eat. There are several different places to shop or eat. Bangor is another place that is not to far from Plymouth. It is about 20 miles away and it is a very good place that people can go shopping at for clothes and other things you don’t normally buy in Newport. Bangor is a place where kids from Plymouth like to go to hang out or go shopping for things.
One of the most traveled to places in Plymouth is the Plymouth store. The Plymouth store has been around since the 1800’s and it is a big help to the town. It is a place where people go to get some types of food and get gas for their cars and other things. There is a café that has opened up inside the Plymouth store and that’s a place where people can go eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is a store that makes a ton of money because it is pretty much the only store in Plymouth that has gas at it and it is also located in a very populated and traveled area of town. This is also a good store in town because the prices are very accurate they do not charge to much for things like most stores will do to people.
The Plymouth pond is a very busy place in the summer. People go there and they can fish or just go boating and tubing. It is a very big spot where kids like to go hangout by the water and some people will swim. People also like having houses by water and this is a good spot to have a house because it is a nice spot in the summer time and there is also very good shade on the shore. This is a very busy place because it is on a busy road. The ponds in Plymouth attract many tourists and vacationers and also fisherman.

There are very friendly people that live in this community and that’s why my dad had moved here to Plymouth. It is a very laid back and relaxed place to live and not much goes on around here. It is so much different from a city where people don’t know many other people around where they live. Mostly every neighbor knows each other and talks every now and then. In the city people aren’t as forward as they are in a town. In Plymouth people will come right out and talk to you they won’t just stand there and say nothing.
There are many opportunities to do outside things in the town of Plymouth. There are snowmobile trails and four wheeler trails all around and you can go a lot of places if you get on them. The store is a place where you can get the gas for your sled or four wheeler and it makes a lot of money of that. Boating is another thing people come to Plymouth and do on there vacation. They like to go out on the ponds and go for a ride in the summer and stop to catch something to eat or just to fish and throw
them back.

Exam 5 Essay.
Mao became leader of China after a lot of work. He was first recognized as a soldier of China and he was a very good one. He became a part of the communist party and he became one of the leaders along with another person. He formed the red army and defeted the other leaders army and became the leader of the communist party and said he was now the leader of China. When he was leader he did not care much about the people and he gave out a red book that was like a rule book for China. Stalin was similar to Mao because he didn't care much about his people he was more about himself. He said that he was leader forever until his death just like Mao had said in China.

Exam 4. Part 1 Prompt 2
Propaganda is a picture with messages that tries to change the opinion of large groups of people. Propaganda is different from art because it is more of like a hate speech but it is in a picture form. It tells people what they should want and what they shouldn't with out actually saying it. Some people in the wars thought it was like art because propaganda is a picture of people and things but i don't think it should be considered art because it isn't the same thing. Art is something good and peaceful and propaganda is based on bad things that people don't want. They are different degrees of propaganda like some are just pictures of things like Picasso's Guernica, which some people call it art and some call it propaganda but others are pictures of people being killed and those people are based on real life situations.
This is a picture of Picasso's art or propaganda called Guernica. I think this is a very weird type of picture or form of propaganda I don't really understand what it is trying to say and it is not very detailed. It looks like the person on the left is throwing there arms up and screaming toward the sky as if she is in trouble or is mad at something that is happening. There are a few people at the bottom of this picture that look like they might have been killed and if this would be considered propaganda those people could be they people that they don't want around and this is showing they should defeat these people. In this picture there is also an animal like thing in the back round that does not look very happy and looks to be angry at something. There are also some people that are also yelling toward the sky it looks like and most of the other people in this picture look very sad and upset.
The bombing of Guernica was an attack by the Germans that destroyed the painting. It was an attack by the planes Germany had on April 26, 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. This attack by the German's was called Operation Rugen. There were several civilian deaths during this bombing and it had a lot of destruction. During the bombing hundreds of bombs were dropped on the city. This bombing had destroyed three quarters of the city and there was not much left of it. There was about 1600 dead and about 900 wounded out of the around 5,000 people in the city. This was a big blow to there economy and and it had a major effect on the war.

Stalingrad
1. What does Joseph Stalin's advice to the people of Stalingrad say about him as a leader?
He doesn't really care how many people die and he does not want anyone to run away from the battle he wants them to fight.
2. Explain why Hitler would react in the way shown after signing a Non-Aggression Pact with Stalin?
Because he knew he could win the battle a lot easier now and he wouldn't lose as many men and he'll be safe. He can focus on one group at a time.
3. Explain the significance of propaganda in this battle, using examples from the posters.
They are saying to kill the bad people in the posters and help win the battle for the good people. they say the Germans are monsters and they should not live.
4. What do the extremes of the war reveal about what it takes to win a total war?
It shows that it will take a lot to win this war and a very good strategy. You would need to watch out for snipers and stay as healthy as you can so you won't die.
5. What does the story of Vasily Zaitsev relate to the war in Iraq?
There is a lot of casulties. There are snipers like him in Iraq and that is why a lot of people are being killed. Also there are people being trained to be a good sniper so they can help in the war in Iraq. We are fighting for what we believe for and our country and we will not give up.
6. In times of crisis, sometimes heroic figures emerge. Which figure emerged in a similar way to Vasily after the terrorist attacks of 9/11?
People that were in the military were the most heroic people and the people who joined the army because they stepped up and went to war and took care of business. Also the fire men would be hero's because they went in to save people and a lot of people had died trying to save people they do not know.

Hunger
I have read the book Hunger by Sharman Apt Russell. I would have to say the them of this book is being hungry. This book talks mostly about what happens to your body when you are eating and what your body does when you stop eating. In this book they talk about the history of fasting which is when a person goes so many days with out eating any food all they do is sip water. Most people do it because of their religion or to jump start a diet until now. There are people who will start to fast just to see what it does to the body and how long they can go without food. My favorite part in this book was when it talked about the guy who was hung inside a glass box over the town while he was fasting so everyone could see him and how he was doing. His fast lasted for weeks but near the end of it he was very thin and exhausted. In this book it talks about people who have fasted just to try and set a record and that record was in the Guinness book of world records until they stopped doing it around 2001.
When some people are fasting they usually feel like they don't have energy or feel very tired but sometimes people can fast and they will feel tired but everything else feels fine and they feel like they are a lot stronger. I don't think I would ever do a fasting because i wouldn't want to go very long without food.
People have been fasting for several years now and there hasn't been that many problems with people doing it but it can make you very unhealthy if you do it wrong.
This book was an alright book to read but I would not suggest reading it while you were hungry because it makes you want to eat. It can be very interesting to anyone who wants to learn about the body and fastings.
